  • Keeping your power flowing and supporting the ongoing COVID-19 response

    We know our customers have relied on us more than ever in the last year to ensure a safe and secure supply of electricity, whilst the coronavirus pandemic continues to have a significant impact on individuals, businesses and communities.

  • Whether that’s providing power to keep you safe and warm at home or ensuring critical locations like hospitals, care homes, vaccine centres and essential services continue to receive the electricity they need, our teams continue to play their part in keeping the country going during these unprecedented times.
    On Monday 4 January, both the UK and Scottish Governments announced new national lockdown restrictions in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The latest guidance indicates that works relating to critical national infrastructure should continue as these are essential to keeping the country running.

    To maintain the continued levels of service that our customers need, we’re adapting and continually reviewing the way we work to keep our employees and the public safe whilst we ensure a safe and reliable supply of electricity for our customers.
    We know our customers are relying on us and, with schools now adopting remote learning and many people being asked to work from home where possible, we understand any interruption to power supplies can be disruptive. As ever, we are committed to minimising customer impact, as we carry out work critical to the resilience of our network. That’s why all planned service interruptions will be reviewed in advance of any work starting, to understand the impact on our customers during this difficult time. 

    You may have seen our teams in your cities, towns and villages carrying out essential work to keep your power flowing. We want to reassure you that the safety of our customers and colleagues is our number one priority, and all engineering works and workplace activity are being undertaken in accordance with Government guidance. 

    As a responsible and proactive network operator, we recognise that there is a wider role that we can play to support local communities and our customers, so we have also temporarily expanded the Priority Services Register (PSR) eligibility criteria to include customers categorised at ‘high risk’ and ‘extremely high risk’ of severe illness from coronavirus.
